Kanu Reveals His Problem With Wenger’s Squad But Backs New Signings

Arsenal Legend Nwankwo Kanu says Arsenal need to stop falling apart when it matters most and has backed the club to have a good season this year.

The club have failed to win the league since 2004 and Kanu believes it’s about time things change for the better.

Arsenal were touted as favourites to win the league title last season after an impressive first half of the season but finished second place, five points behind Leicester City after a terrible run of form in the second half of the season and Kanu believes they have to get it right this year.

He said : “You know the problem with Arsenal. When you need them, they let you down.

“I believe they have learned from that.

“It doesn’t matter how good you play football, you need to get the points when it’s needed.”

The former striker also believes the club will do well this season after signing good players in the summer. Wenger spent close to £100m in the summer transfer window and Kanu believes the boss has spent well.

“I believe they are going to do well,” he added.

“They have bought good players. If they can play the way they played against Watford and keep it going. It doesn’t matter how you play, the most important thing is to get the points when it’s needed.”

Arsenal will face Southampton this weekend and Wenger will be looking to build on the win against Waford.
