Arsenal are interested in signing Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy, according to Sky Sports.
Arsene Wenger has previously revealed his desire to sign a world class striker to lead the line ahead of Olivier Giroud next season and the French tactician has been linked with a number of big name signings.
It was thought that the Gunners lead the race to sign Juventus Alvaro Morata but we didn’t know Wenger had a surprise under his sleeve. According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are interested in signing Jamie Vardy and are prepared to activate the player’s £20m release clause.
Vardy inserted a £20m release clause in the contract he signed with Leicester City in February and after a prolific season, Arsenal are prepared to activate it.
Manchester United where thought to be considering the option but Mourinho opted against activating Vardy’s clause, this cleared the way for Arsenal to make its move.
Wenger is desperately keen on signing a top striker and should the club be able to convince to convince the player to move to the Emirates, we would be getting one of the best strikers in England.
Vardy scored 24 league goals for Leicester City this season as he helped the Foxes to their first ever top flight title.
