Man United vs Swansea: Player Ratings, Man Of The Match & Flop Of The Match

Manchester United are finally back to winning ways after defeating Swansea 2-1 at Old Trafford, here is how the players rated:

DAVID DEGEA (5.5):  Did very well whenever he was called upon but could not keep out Sigurdsson’s deeping header, saved Ashley Williams instinctive shot at goal but had little answer if goalkeeper Fabianski’s header was goal bound.

DALEY BLIND (5.0): Played as a left back but was responsible for losing Sigurdsson for Swansea’s equalizer and was given a tough time due to Routledge’s presence on the flanks.

ASHLEY YOUNG (7.5): United danger man on the evening despite playing from the right back position, his ball into the box was on point one of which led to Martial’s goal. He was a turn in the flesh of Swansea’s left back all through the game.

PHIL JONES (5.0): The only new face into the squad that didn’t start against Chelsea but had to go off injured at half time with no real meaningful contribution to the game.

CHRIS SMALLING (6.0):  Good general performance as always expected with the only blemish being the yellow card he received for fouling Ayew.

MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN (5.0): Almost gave Swansea an easy penalty when he flicked the ball against his hands and lost the ball too easily at times. Still has a lot to prove for this team.

BASTIAN SCHWEINSTEIGER (5.5): Was involved in the move that led to United’s opener, put in a steady display all through.

JUAN MATA (5.5): Almost caught the Swansea defence sleeping in the second half, his movement created room for Young to thrive down the right.

ANDER HERRERA (5.5): Should have scored for the second successive game with clear cut chances but hit the ball against the goalkeeper just like he did against Chelsea. He needs to improve on his finishes

ANTHONY MARTIAL (7.0): A well taken goal and an assist on the day for the young French man, great performance on the day and lively all through.

WAYNE ROONEY (6.5): Brilliant striker’s goal with an instinctive flick to beat Fabianski. He needs to improve more because he can do better than he is doing at present.

MATTEO DARMIAN (5.0): Left out from the starting spot but brought on at half time for the injured Jones. He took time to get into the game as a centre half.

Ashley young was easily the man of the match as he was United’s best chance of creating anything. His cross was inch perfect for Martial to nod home the first goal.

Phil Jones, he is always not available when the team needs him, out injured again despite just returning only recently.
