Chelsea have been linked with a January move for Jonathan Calleri but the Premier league champions are set to miss out on the 22 year old striker, the player has revealed.
The striker has been in fine form for Boca Juniors this season and has attracted interest from top clubs in Europe. Chelsea were particularly linked with a move to sign the striker but Inter Milan are now close to sealing a deal for the 22 year old.
Speaking to the Argentine media, the striker said:
“The deal is very advanced, but the decision will be difficult.
“From Boca’s side, it is almost done, only I have to close the deal. Every player wants to play for Inter; I might only get one chance to do it.”
“I would have liked to play in the Copa Libertadores, but I know it’s complicated.
“The fact is Boca have virtually closed the deal with Inter, it seems it would be difficult for me to play here.”
The striker is yet to agree personal terms with the Italian club. However, the deal looks to go through in January.
The Blues are reportedly in search of a centre forward but it seems the premier league champions have turned their attention to Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.
