Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on improving his side in January and has identified four key areas he needs to strengthen wen the winter transfer window opens next month, according to the Metro.
The report claims a goalkeeper, a defender, a midfielder and a striker is top of Klopp’s wish list as he looks to create a new spine in the Liverpool team.
The Reds are close to completing a move for Red Star Belgrade’s midfielder Marko Grujic but according to the report, Micheal Gundongan is high on Klopp’s list as he hopes to make the German international a key member of the Anfield side.
In Goal, Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign Marseille’s Steve Mandanda but the Metro also claims the Merseyside club are also looking at AC Milan’s Diego Lopez as they search for an upgrade to Simon Mignolet.
In defence, club has been linked with the likes of Martin Carceres of Juventus and Borussia Dortmund duo Matt Hummels and Neven Subotic although it is believed they are closing in on Shalke’s Joel Matip, as per goal.com.
A striker is also another position klopp intends to look into in January, with long term injury to Danny Ings and the injury prone Daniel Sturridge yet to feature well for Klopp, the German tactician is considering signing a new striker as Christian Benteke is struggling to adapt to the German’s style of play. The Red’s have been linked to the likes of Guissepe Rossi and Javier Hernandez.
