Last week, Manchester United were linked with a move to sign former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez.
It is believed that the Old Trafford club are preparing a world record fee for the Barcelona winger next summer.
According to the Metro, Manchester United will take a step closer to signing the Uruguay striker should they be able to lure Pep Guardiola to Old Trafford next summer.
The 20 times league champions as well as Manchester City and Chelsea have been linked with a move to sign the former Barcelona coach.
The report now claims whoever wins the race to sign the former Barcelona manager will take a step closer to signing Suarez as Guardiola has identified the striker as the first player he wants in his next club.
The striker and the manager share the same agents and Pep is keen to work with the striker.
However its could be difficult to prise the striker away from Barcelona as he is enjoying a wonderful season at the Catalan giants. It is believed that manchester City also has the resources to lure Pep Guardiola and sign Luis Suarez.
But Manchester United financial capacity is well greater than their city rivals with Ed Woodward claiming the club could smash the world record fee and still not fall short of the financial fair play rules but the same cannot be said about Manchester City who had already suffered punishment from Uefa for failing to keep to the financial fair play rule.
Although the punishment has be reduced and City are free to spend but the club needs to be cautious in order not to provoke the rot of Uefa and that could just play into the hands of Manchester United.
