New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink is interested in signing a Premier league striker in January, according to reports.
The Blues are interested in signing a striker in January when the winter transfer window opens, but the West London club who axed their manager last Thursday and brought in former Netherlands’ coach Guus Hiddink until the end of the season have narrowed down their search to within the country.
However, the Metro reports that the new boss has asked the club to sign an English striker in January as he looks to get the club further up the table.
The reports claim the Hiddink has asked for either of Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy or West Brom’s Saido Berahino.
Vardy is currently the league’s highest goal scorer and has been in superb form for the Foxes this season. The striker along with Mahrez has been the club’s best players and Chelsea have targeted the 28 year old as they bid to improve their season.
Saido Berahino is currently not having a fruitful season like Vardy but the England U21 man was in superb form for West Brom last season and was subjected to an official bid from Tottenham in the summer. It is claimed that a bid of £20m will be enough to sign the west Brom striker.
Hiddink is set to watch Chelsea’s current striker’s closely between now and January.
