Liverpool are chasing the transfer of Juventus star defender Martin Caceres, according to reports.
The Reds are ready to dip their toes into the January in order to get quality defenders; with Kolo Toure nearing the end of his playing career and Dejan Lovren not looking reassuring at the back.
Caceres, a former Barcelona player is a very experienced defender, the 28 years old has been facing series of injuries which has kept him out of action for most of the season. He is a very versatile defender and can play in any of the position in the defence; either left back, right back or in central defence.
The defender has found playing time hard to come by at Juventus this season, featuring just two times in the league this season, it is reported that Jürgen Klopp is keen to add the experienced defender to his team, to help boost their chances of making it into the UEFA Champions league next season and also to help add more defensive solidity to a backline that has been shipping in goals of late.
His versatility would be a much needed ingredient for the Reds as he can provide defensive cover to any part of the defence in need of it, and he is relatively cheap to acquire.
He is in his last year of his contract with the Turin giants as he would be free in the summer of 2016; so Liverpool could take advantage of that to sign him this January as Juventus would not want to lose him for free.
