Chelsea vs Sunderland: Player Ratings, 2 Man Of The Match & 1 SHOCK Flop Of The Match

Chelsea defeated Sunderland in the first game of the post Mourinho era. Steve Holland took charge of the team and the Blues produced their best performance of the season so far. We take a look at how the players fared.

Thibaut Courtois: 6

The Belgian had a poor game compared to his standards. Spilled Kaboul’s header which allowed Sunderland to pull one back, he also looked shaky at times.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 6.5

The Spaniard was solid defensively although he didn’t produce anything spectacular going forward.

Zouma: 6

The defender did okay, although he had some troubles but he had an average game.

Terry: 6.5

The Captain had a decent game, he didn’t do much wrong out there but still needs to improve.

Ivanovic : 7.5

The Serbian produced his best performance of the season, he looked like the Ivanovic of last season again.

Nemanja Matic: 7

The midfielder showed signs of his old self, although he is still improving but he was solid out there.

Cesc Fabregas : 6.5

The midfielder controlled the game well, he showed signs of improvement on the pitch.

Willian: 8.5 (MoTM)

 One of the best performers for Chelsea this season, assisted the first goal with a well taken corner and also won the penalty for the 3rd goal.

Oscar: 8.5 (MoTM)

A superb performance from the Brazilian, he scored a goal with a well taken penalty. Man of the match performance.

Diego Costa: 5 (FoTM)

Another Frustrating afternoon out there for the striker, he was booed by the fans.


John Obi Mikel: 5

He came on for Cesc Fabregas, he was brought in to protect the lead.

Loic Remy: 5

He didn’t do much in his time on the pitch.

Ramires: N/A

Didn’t have enough time to make an impact.
