Andre Wisdom is ruled out of the trip to Old Trafford due to a hamstring injury and, after a strong second-half performance against Everton, a back four of Russell Martin, Ryan Bennett, Sebastian Bassong and Martin Olsson looks likely.
Alex Neil opted for a 4-2-3-1 formation at home to the Toffees, but having left out Wes Hoolahan for many of the tougher away assignments already this season, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see him do so once again.
Alex Tettey and Gary O’Neil are the favourites to fill the central midfield positions once again, with Youssouf Mulumbu and Graham Dorrans alternatives.
Robbie Brady and Nathan Redmond appear likely to start out wide, so it could be that Jonny Howson earns a recall in place of Hoolahan should Neil opt for a more cautious approach. Howson could also start on the right, with Redmond playing just off a lone striker in a 4-4-1-1 formation.
Cameron Jerome got the nod ahead of Dieumerci Mbokani and Lewis Grabban against Everton, but after missing a glaring opportunity to secure all three points, he could find himself back on the bench this weekend, with perhaps Dieumerci Mbokani earning a recall.
Declan Rudd is expected to keep his place in goal ahead of John Ruddy. Matt Jarvis is nearing a return but remains on the sidelines with a knee injury.
