Manchester United players have cancelled this year’s Christmas party after the club dropped out of the Champions League on Tuesday, according to reports. The Red Devils were planning to hit town on Sunday night but have called it off after their humiliating defeat at the hands of Wolfsburg which sent the Red Devils down to the second tier of European football; the UEFA Europa League.
Skipper Wayne Rooney was said to have led the call for the cancellation of the Christmas party with backing from the fellow United players to skip the party to avoid wrong notions of a celebration in the wake of elimination frojm the Champions league.
United had the opportunity of qualifying to the next round when all they needed was just 3 points out of a possible 6 in their last two group games, but the Red Devil could only get a single point from a possible six; leading to their exit from the competition.
