Chelsea are looking at the possibility of signing Real Madrid star James Rodriguez according to reports coming out of Spain.
The Express claims Rodriguez is considering his future at the Bernabeu as a result of the poor relationship between himself and Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez. The report claims Spanish publication Fichajes indicates that Mourinho is interested in the midfielder as a result of the poor form of Cesc Fabregas.
Cesc Fabregas has been disappointing so far this season, and the midfielder’s influence in the Chelsea squad has dwindled since the beginning of the year and Mourinho is concerned and keen to bring in a quality midfielder.
The Blues were linked with Rodriguez when the midfielder was at FC Porto but the price that was quoted by the Portuguese club then was too high and Chelsea baulked at paying such fee. However, the player joined Monaco in 2013.
The midfielder’s performance for Colombia at the 2014 World Cup was superb, the midfielder won the tournament’s golden boot and was also named in the World Cup All star xi.
James then moved to Real Madrid for €80million and signed a six year deal with the Spanish giants. He had a decent first season with the Spanish giants and scored 17 goals in 43 appearances but his relationship with Rafael Benitez this season is said to be poor and the 24 year old is reportedly open to a move to Chelsea next summer.
The midfielder is determined to force a move to Chelsea and he is not ready to start next season under the current Madrid boss.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
