Manchester United have been heavily linked with Argentine attacker Nicolas Gaitan since summer transfer window.
The Portuguese outfit announced on Wednesday that the player has agreed a new deal containing a 45 Million release clause which will last until June 2019, and the 27 year old was delighted to commit his future to the club.

Gaitan arrived in Lisbon in 2010 from Argentine side Boca Juniors, Gaitan has been fundamental for Benfica and has scored 33 times in 225 appearances for the Lisbon based club.
United have been linked to Gaitan for a very long time, United former managers; Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to bring the player to Old Trafford with no success while David Moyes also tried to lure the tricky winger to the Theatre of Dreams.
Gaitan was seen as a replacement for the departed Angel Di Maria who he coincidentally replaced when he left Benfica for Real Madrid; but the deal never materialised as United went for Dutch star Memphis Depay. It will take a huge bid now for United to sign Gaitan after this latest deal he just signed with Benfica. The player will still be in United’s radar when the transfer window reopens in less than 3 weeks time.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
