Chelsea are interested in signing French midfielder Blaise Matuidi, according to reports.
BuzzSport reports that the defensive midfielder is looking for a new challenge and Paris Saint Germain are open to the idea of selling the player.
The reports claim Mourinho sees the French man as his kind of player because of his work rate and defensive capabilities and the West London club is keen on signing the player should the opportunity arise.
This is not the first time the Blues have been linked with the player this season. In September, the Metro reported that Chelsea are interested in signing the French midfielder to replace Nigerian international John Obi Mikel.
The news of PSG hoping to sell will come as a huge boost for Jose Mourinho who has failed to find an ideal partner to Nemanja Matic in his squad.
The Blues have been linked with several midfielders this season and Mourinho is keen to bring one to Stamford bridge but a January switch for Matuidi looks unlikely as the player will be ineligible to feature for the Blues in the Champions league. A summer deal is more likely but Chelsea will be hoping to make the Top 4 in order to qualify for next season’s Champions league.
The midfielder moved to PSG in 2011 from Sainte-Etienne. He has 37 caps for France, as well as scoring six goals for the French national team.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
