Italian Newspaper Tutto Mercato claimed that Liverpool have an agreement in principle in place to sign Brazilian striker Alexander Pato during the January transfer window.
Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Corinthians striker Alexandre Pato according to reports. Pato who is currently on loan at Sao Paulo, is a target for a host of European sides when he returns to his parent club in the new year.
Arsenal are said to be in talks with Pato while Tottenham have also been linked. But Don Balon suggests Pato is closer to Liverpool. The Outlet says Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign the 26 years who has scored 26 goals so far this season.
Initial report suggested that Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger has met with Corinthians director of football to discuss a potential transfer deal for Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato. The Gunners are likely to be active after getting caught up in yet another injury crisis.
Pato joined Brazilian side Corinthians from AC Milan for £12.18 Million and scored with his first touch, the Brazilian is quick, agile and creative with excellent technical ability. He was considered as one of the World’s most promising young footballing stars in his youth.
The 26 years old Brazilian is a very dynamic striker with a good goal scoring records. Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs and even Manchester United have been reported to have interest in the former AC Milan striker; it would be interesting to see where the striker ply his trade come January with Liverpool reportedly leading the race.
Corinthians Deputy director Eduardo Ferreira has already confirmed that Pato will be sold for the right price, that is an amount in the region of £17.5M.
