Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Neven Subotic this season and Jurgen Klopp is set to round up the deal before the New Year, according to reports.
The 26 year old is currently out of favour at Dortmund and has made just one Bundesliga appearance for the German outfit this term.
The Express claims the Serbian defender is expected to be Jurgen Klopp’s first signing when the winter transfer window opens in January.
The Defender was brought from Mainz to BVB by Jurgen Klopp and since the departure of the German tactician, the 26 year old has now become a peripheral figure at the signal iduna park with Matt Hummels, Papasthathopoulos Sokratis, Sven Bender and Matthias Ginter ahead of Subotic in Thomas Tuchel’s pecking order.
Klopp has been linked with a number of BVB players but Subotic who is regarded as one of the disciples of Klopp is said to be closer to a move to Anfield than anyone else in the BVB team.
Dortmund Sporting director Mucheal Zorc recently revealed that the defender is in an “unusual and difficult situation” which could make it very possible for the defender to leave the club in January.
