Chelsea are set to make a move for West Brom striker Saido Berahino when the winter transfer window opens next month, according to the Mirror.
The paper claims Berahino is one of the Blues several targets as Jose Mourinho looks to revive his ailing frontline after a disastrous start to the Premier league campaign.
The England under 21 international had a superb season for West Brom last term as he helped the Baggies survive relegation, he was subjected to a bid from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer but West Brom weren’t interested in selling the striker. The 22 year old was interested in a move to white hart lane and tried to force a move which West Brom blocked.
The striker has failed to live up to the standards he set last season and his manager now claims the player has been affected by the transfer battle that happened last summer.
“I’m not blaming Saido, I’m not blaming anybody – it’s just fact. I think there’s no question Saido was disappointed the [Tottenham] deal never went through,” Pulis said in an interview with Sky Sports.
“As I’ve said, there’s people within the game who can handle that and there’s people in the game who can’t. It’s not any fault of his, it’s not any fault of anybody else. It’s just the way you’re brought up and the character you’ve got,” he added.
If the 22 year old fails to improve his performances, the Baggies might just be forced to let him leave in January instead of keeping an unhappy player in their squad.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
