Chelsea scouts were present at Rennes game against Olympic Marseille to watch Ousmane Dembele, according to Soccerlens.
Chelsea reportedly watched the winger earlier in the season and it is believed they were observing the player again in Rennes 0-1 loss to Marseille on Thursday.
The Blues have been following the progress of the winger but Jose Mourinho’s men face competition from Premier league rivals Manchester City who are also keen on the winger.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea alongside the likes of City, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid are all in the race to sign the winger.
The 18 year old is highly rated in France and is regarded as one of the country’s best talents. The winger signed his first professional contract at Rennes in the summer after a superb season with the club’s junior side where he amassed 13 goals in 22 appearances averaging more than a goal in every two games played.
The young lad certainly looks like a goal scoring winger, he has featured twice for Rennes first team this season and already has a goal to his name.
Mourinho is looking to inject goals into his squad and signing a goal scoring winger like Dembele will go a long way in improving the Blues.
However his age might be a problem, the winger turned 18 last may and a move to Chelsea who are not known for giving youngster’s the opportunity to play for the first team might not be good for the player at the moment.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
