Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic could be on his way to Anfield, according to reports in Germany via the Metro.
The 26 year old is currently out of favour at the Signal Iduna park and has been overlooked by the manager.
German publication Bild reports that Subotic is interested in leaving BVB and is keen to reunite with former boss Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp had previously revealed that he has no deal with BVB stopping him from signing their players which makes it a realistic option for Subotic to join his former manager in England.
Klopp has been linked with some of BVB players which includes Matt Hummels, Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan, while it might be difficult to price the trio away from Dortmund, it will be relatively easier for Klopp to lure Subotic to Italy.
The Serbian defender is reportedly disillusioned with life under Thomas Tuchel, he has featured just twice for the new BVB manager this season.
BVB board member Micheal Zorc recently revealed that the defender could be leaving Germany when the transfer window opens in January.
“It is an unusual and difficult situation for him (Subotic),” he said.
“Neven is dealing with it all very professionally, but he is obviously not happy. There are strong indications that he will say his farewells in January.
“There are always messages coming from England that Klopp would take Subotic to Liverpool.
Klopp is looking to strengthen his Liverpool squad and bring in his kind of players like Subotic. Dejan Lovren and Mamaudou Sakho have been unable to impress the German tactician.
