Chelsea are preparing a fifth bid for England defender John Stones in January, according to reports.
Chelsea had four bids bids for the defender rejected last summer, the latest of which was a £38million bid. John Stones tried to force a move to Chelsea in the summer by submitting a transfer request but the defender’s request was immediately rejected by Everton’s hierarchy.
The Metro now reports that Chelsea are set to return for the player in January. Mourinho wants to strengthen his squad as he looks to get his team up the premier league table with a top four finish the minimum that is required of him.
Stones is highly wanted at Chelsea as the club’s hierarchy consider him a potential replacement for club Legend John Terry.
Everton are determined to keep their prized assets beyond January but with Chelsea desperately interested in the 21 year old, the Merseyside club might be tempted to cash in on the player. A fee of about £40million will reportedly force Everton to part with their youngster.
Stones is attracting interest from a host of top clubs within and outside England.
