Chelsea are preparing a £35.1 Million transfer bid to finally sign Everton defender John Stones, according to reports. Stones is a long term target for Jose Mourinho who believes he can replace the ageing John Terry.
But Chelsea face a battle to land Stones as the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United are all keen on a move for the 21 years old. The Blues attempted to sign John Stones in the summer by placing a bid on four different occasions for the youngster, but Everton rejected all attempts by the Blues to lure Stones to Stamford Bridge.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United has been told to pay £45 Million for John Stones. The race is now a Three Horse race for the player’s signature. Whether he’ll make the move away from Everton in January looks highly unlikely, but a move in the summer should be in the cards.
Stones is already an England first team player and he is just 21 years of age, it is most likely that the youngster would make the final squad for the European Champions. United, Barcelona and Chelsea would be signing an outstanding young talent if he eventually decides to move to any of these European giants.
