Walsall boss Dean Smith admits Rico Henry could be sold to a Premier league side in January transfer window.
The 18 years old had been linked with a host of clubs including Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City and Aston Villa recently. However, it is understood scouts from Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United watched Henry in action at Swindon Town on Tuesday night. Manchester United need a cover at left back after losing Luke Shaw to a broken leg.
But Walsall boss Smith admitted to the Express & Star: ‘’it’s going to take a hell of a lot of money to take Rico away from this football club. Every player has a price don’t they? We all know that. But it would take a very big offer and I’m not sure he’d want to go at the moment as well.’’
Rico signed his professional contract shortly after his 17th birthday after coming through the youth ranks at Bescot and made his debut in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy win at Tranmere in December. Henry plays similarly like Luke Shaw by getting forward to join the attack at every opportunity.
If he eventually joing Man United, it will afford him the chance to progress and become a class act due to the facilities available for his development.
