Jose Mourinho is looking to reinvigorate his side with the winter acquisition of Tottenham’s Moussa Dembele. The powerful Belgian midfielder, 28, is seen by the special one as a player who could add the much needed steel and firepower to improve his under performing midfield.
Though Ramires has gone about impressing with his energy levels, Cesc Fabregas and Nemeja Matic have regularly produced below par performances in midfield this season. Dembele on the other hand has formed an impressive midfield with England youngsters Dele Alli and Eric Dier as part of a Tottenham side who haven’t tasted defeat since the opening day at Old Trafford.
Martin Jol, the man responsible for bringing the Belgian to England from AZ Alkmar said Dembele is probably the best player on the ball I’ve ever seen.” After four decades in the game, it takes something special to stand out.”
Getting him from London rivals won’t be easy, particularly at the middle of an impressive season. It is however understood that the Blues believe a £20 million offer would be enough to convince Tottenham boss Pochetino to sanction the sale of the midfield power house.
Should Dembele move to Chelsea, the blues will be the third London club he will be playing for in the EPL along with Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham
