Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is set to move away on loan.
The Daily Mail says Johnstone was given the go ahead on Tuesday, with Fulham, Wolves and Preston North End among the clubs interested.
During United’s pre-season tour of the United State; Johnstone replaced David De Gea at half time in United’s 2-0 loss to the French Giants in the International Championship Cup. The youngster appeared in four of the Red Devils matches in the pre-season, racking up 208 minutes in total.
With David De Gea signing a new four years contract extension and signing of Argentine shot stopper; Sergio Romero, Johnstone shot at first team would have to be in the future, for now going out on loan to gather more experience seems to be the best option for the young goalkeeper.
With Fulham amongst the team willing to sign Johnstone on loan, United can use that opportunity to include Johnstone’s loan as part of a deal to bring in teenage sensation Moussa Dembele from Craven Cottage; who has been referred to as the ‘new Didier Drogba’.
Johnstone would one day become a United first choice, he is gradually developing himself as a very good goalkeeper, his loan deals would help him remain match fit and active, with De Gea impending departure to Real Madrid next season; he could finally have his chance to slug it out with Sergio Romero for the first choice spot at Old Trafford
