Premier League Champions Chelsea are interested in signing Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray.
The Blues are reportedly monitoring a number of English talents as the blues hope to add to their home grown players when the transfer window opens in January.
The blues were in for John Stones last summer as they searched for a potential replacement for club captain John Terry, but the West London club couldn’t sign the defender as Everton was determined to keep hold of the centre back. The blues saw 3 bids rejected with the latest being a 35 million bid.
The blues however turned their attention to another homegrown player Micheal hector who was later loaned back to reading for the rest of the season.
Recent reports claim that Chelsea are interested in signing Demarai Gray and the 22 year old is high on the blues wish list because his English and will help improve the club’s home grown status .
John Terry and Garry Cahill are the only England players in the blues squad and with both players in their 30’s the club is desperately in search for a new core of English players and Demarai Gray appeals to the club scouts.
Gray was reportedly a target for Liverpool and Bournemouth last summer but Birmingham decided against selling the winger.
With Chelsea reportedly in the race to sign the winger now, Birmingham will be hoping they get as much fee as they can get from the sale of the winger should Gray declare his interest in moving to West London.
