Manchester United are considering a move for Roma’s Ashley Cole to act as cover for the injured Luke Shaw, according to reports.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new left-back and Louis Van Gaal has admitted that he will assess their options.
United are also tracking Wolfsburg Ricardo Rodriguez while also eyeing former Chelsea’s left back Ashley Cole. United left back, Luke Shaw sustained a lengthy injury in United’s match against PSV Eindhoven on match day one of their UEFA Champions league clash.
Ashley Cole would add value and experience to the United’s defensive line as he has played for Arsenal before moving to Chelsea and now plying his trade with Italian outfit AS Roma. The former England international has won the Premier league, FA Cup, Carling Cup with the Blues and would relinquish the chance to play for the Red devils after seeing his chance limited at AS Roma.
Cole, 34, played at Old Trafford last week in David Beckham’s Unicef Charity Match and would be a cheaper option to acquire due to his age and declining Value. His experience would be vital for Luke Shaw’s development
