Manchester United are ready to pay £49.7 Million to sign Arjen Robben in January, according to reports.
Robben seems to be heading to the exit door at the Allianz Arena after reports emerged last week about a possible fall out between the Dutchman and Polish international, Robert Lewandowski.
United have been linked with a deal, and after reports that Robben has agreed to move to Old Trafford in a fee said to be £49.7 Million. Louis Van Gaal is ready to re-unite with Robben; after the winger was instrumental under Van Gaal in winning the Bronze medal at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Former United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson attempted to sign Robben when the winger was still a youngster. United placed a bid of £5 Million that was turned down by PSV Eindhoven, Chelsea was said to have snatched the player’s signature by offering £12 Million. Robben went on to help the Blues win their first Premier League crown in 50 years, before series of injuries ended his stay at Stamford Bridge.
Louis Van Gaal has reiterated his desire to inject more players with pace into his United squad; and a player like Robben would gel into Van Gaal’s plans and with premier league experience, he should hit the ground running at Old Trafford in no time.
If the deal succeeds, Robben would also be re-uniting with Schweinsteiger; his former team mate at Bayern Munich.
