Chelsea are ready to hijack Manchester United’s deal for Mario Gomez, according to reports.
United have been following on-loan Besiktas striker Gomez closely and reports this week suggested tha he was close to moving to Old Trafford.
But the Daily Star says that Chelsea are keen to hijack the transfer as they look to bolster their own front-line. Gomez is owned by Fiorentina who are willing to cash in on him; Gomez has 8 goals in 11 appearances this season for the Turkish side.
Chelsea are planning to hijack the deal and bring the former German International to Stamford Bridge to help turn their season around. Chelsea have stolen a match on United player wise in the past before, Nigerian International John Obi Mikel was involved in a transfer tug of war between the two English giants, Chelsea finally won the due, signing the player from United’s nose.
Arjen Robben, Michael Essien, Eden Hazard and more recently Pedro Rodriguez were players on United radar that the Blues ended up signing; so Chelsea attempting to snatch Gomez won’t be a surprise, but if United do need Gomez, the Red Devils would match whatever Chelsea has to offer for the former Bayern Munich star.
