Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea insists he is happy at the club despite interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Degea was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the deal failed to materialize after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement before the close of the Spanish transfer window.
De Gea said: ‘’I felt in that moment that to extend my contract was the best thing to do. I’m really happy now, at one of the biggest clubs in the world, I feel loved by the fans. Nobody let me down or disappointed me- these things happen, you must look forward, I am very happy now’’
Real Madrid refused meeting the required amount demanded by the Red devils but opted instead to offer goalkeeper Keylor Navas plus cash for De Gea’s services. Now Degea has signed a new contract with an improved pay package but speculation is still ongoing that Real Madrid will return for the Spanish goal keeper in the summer to meet the rumored clause in De Gea’s new contract.
De Gea was frozen out from the first team squad at the start of the season amidst claims from the United coach stating that the Goal keeper is not in a right frame of mind due to the repeated attempts by Real Madrid to sign the shot stopper.
De Gea has since being reinstated into the first team and has thanked the fans for their support and love shown to him during his trying period.
