Memphis Depay believes that weight is the main reason behind his struggles at Manchester United.
Depay Joined the Red Devils from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven for £25M and big things were expected of the player from the United fans.
The youngster was speaking with Dutch paper De Telegraaf when he said ‘’since I joined Manchester United I’ve gained five kilos and that’s not fat, only body mass, when I stood on the scale first I thought, Ok, do you? My body is still developing. Now I am heavier. I work a lot on my co-ordination and starting speed.
Depay’s assessment on his reason for his poor form isn’t totally true, the Dutch Eredivisie where Depay shone like a million stars cannot be compared with the English premier league; So the youngster should up his game and re-adjust to the tempo in England. Not every player has it smooth in their first season; as they try to understand their new terrain.
Anthony Martial has come into the Premier league from the French league and had blended well, despite being much younger than Depay; Angel Di-Maria couldn’t cope with the intensity of the English game and had to join Paris St. German. So Depay should buckle up and justify the hefty fee paid to secure his services and also solve the weight issue; if he feels that’s his major undoing.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
