Manchester United are being linked with a move for FC Porto’s Yacine Brahimi, according to reports.
Reports suggest that United are prepared to make a surprise swoop for the Porto player who has a release clause of €60M.
Brahimi is the kind of player that United Coach Louis Van Gaal is being looking for, a player with pace and creativity on the wings to assist in their title challenge. Born in France, Brahimi shifted his allegiance to Algeria with who he participated in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and 2015 African Nations cup where he won CAF Africa’s finest XI and CAF Most Promising Talent of the Year.
The 25 years old has featured 11 times in all competitions for the Portuguese club, scoring 2 times in the process. Brahimi can also play as an attacking midfielder, a position in which the Red devils need a suitable replacement after Argentine international, Angel Di-Maria left this season. His supposed replacement; Memphis Depay had so far failed to be the right player to fill that void, which means Brahimi could seamlessly be the replacement that United so desperately need.
Manchester United currently has Memphis Depay, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Ashley Young as their primary wingers; but with Depay’s poor form so far this season; he is being relegated to the bench and Young being used as a defender to deputize for the injured duo of Valencia and Shaw, United only have Mata (not a natural winger) Martial and Lingard as their only options as wingers in the squad. Brahimi would be a quality addition to the United squad and he will boost the team’s chances for a shot at the title this season.
