18 years old Neves is one of Europe’s most exciting talents and has already broken into the first team with the Portuguese giants.
And he has been so impressive this season that Porto team-mate and former Barca winger Cristian Tello compared him one of Spain’s top players: “He is fantastic with the ball at his feet, he knows how to position himself and he’s aggressive. He’s similar to Sergio Busquets.”
Neves can be described as a player that could be deployed as a holding midfielder or play further up the pitch, and who possesses excellent vision and passing skill. Neves hold the record for the youngest Portuguese player to ever play in the UEFA champions’ league at 17 years 5 months and eight days; and made history again when he captained Porto against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the UEFA champions’ league.
The talented youngster has a buy-out clause of £30M; and having Jorge Mendes as his Agent, it won’t be long before a deal for the player would be in the cards. Mendes brought Ronaldo to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon and he has a good working relationship with United. Neves could be a long term replacement for the ageing duo of United holding midfielder; Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
