Louis Van Gaal has reportedly revealed that he knocked back loan offers for Jesse Lingard. The 22 years old netted his first of many senior goals for Manchester United against Westbrom at Old Trafford.
Jesse was promoted to the first team in 2012 and was subsequently loaned to Leicester City, Birmingham City, Brighton & Hove and Derby County. Newcastle United also requested to take the England youngster on a season long loan; the Magpies wanted Lingard at the start of the Season; but Van Gaal rebuffed all attempts.
Since the Dutch man’s arrival at Old Trafford; Jesse had been given game times, and he has duly obliged by impressing the Gaffer. He was a surprise inclusion in the starting line-up for the season opener against Swansea City where he sustained an injury that kept him out of the team for a lengthy period of time.
This season; Jesse has made seven appearances so far in all competitions, featuring in the Capital one cup, league and UEFA champion’s league, scoring one goal and setting up skipper Wayne Rooney’s goal in the victory over Russian side CSKA Moscow on match day 4.
Lingard’s progress has been steady so far, and if he keeps progressing on a steady basis, then he is surely a star for the future and a legend in the making.
