Manchester United have tried to bring in players that would make them title contenders once more; the fans cannot wait to relieve the glory days where the team won at least a trophy every season.
All the trophy laden years is gradually becoming a thing of the past as the club had not won a single trophy since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2012/13 season with the team as English Premier league champions.
David Moyes could only bring in Marouane Fellaini from Everton and the team finished outside the top four and outside qualification for Europe in 7th place. Moyes was replaced by the enterprising Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal who was still basking at the euphoria of taking his national team to the semi-final and bronze winners’ medal at the 2014 FIFA world cup.
Van Gaal took charge of the red devils and since his arrival; the United hierarchy had spent up to £181.9M on new signings and yet the team still look far from title winning side. The Dutchman clearly recognises this fact and he is ready to tackle this by buying players in the right positions.
Van Gaal was quoted as saying ‘’I have said already in my first year many times we need speed and creativity on the wings.
British record signing Angel Di-Maria failed to live up to expectation and eventually was sold to Paris St. German for £44M after making a move to United for £59.1M from Real Madrid.
Memphis Depay was bought as a replacement for the departed Argentine wing wizard; but so far he has also struggled to light up the theatre of dream. Now Van Gaal is being like to several wingers in the world, with Saido Mane and Antoine Greizman amongst those already mentions as potential transfer targets.
Juan Mata has been occupying the right wing of United’s attack for the Dutch man; but Jesse Lingard has shown that he is a more naturally winger; he just needs playing time to develop into one of the best winger in that position and repaid the faith placed in him by scoring the opening goal in the weekend win
