The agent of Inter Milan goal keeper Federico Pastorello has revealed that Manchester united were interested in his client Samir Handanovic as a replacement for the then departing David De Gea.
The United goal keeper looked likely to be heading to Real Madrid with the red devils viewing Handanovic as a direct replacement but the deal collapsed on the last day of the Spanish transfer window due to late paper work.
With interest for the goalkeeper coming from Manchester United and AS Roma; the Slovenian, now 31 is set to be offered a new deal by the Italian outfit; but the goal keeper has been deliberating over Inter Milan’s offer. He has already negotiated a pay rise to £1.8M/season. The goal keeper is expected to sign a four years contract before the end of 2015.
This season; Handanovic has been in superb form for the Serie A giants, in 11 games played he has kept 7 clean sheets. The Slovenian looks like a very capable replacement if Degea had left for Real Madrid but now he may be set to sign a new deal with Inter Milan.
It is not certain if David will stay with United in the summer because Real Madrid President is still keen on bringing the Spaniard to the Bernabue; it won’t be surprising to see the red devils reignite their interest for the goal keeper if Degea eventually leave United in the summer.
