Chelsea are interested in signing Franco Vazquez from Palermo when the transfer window opens in January, according to club president Maurizio Zamparini.
Vazquez had a wonderful season with Palermo last year where he formed a superb partnership with Paulo Dybala. The Argentine born playmaker lit up the seria A with his intricate passing and wonderful skills. Dybala later Joined Juventus last summer leaving Vazquez as the main man in the Parlemo team.
According to Zamparini, Chelsea are amongst the club trying to sign the midfielder when the transfer window opens in January.
‘Vazquez is the best Italian trequartista at the moment,’ Zamparini told Italian radio station Kiss Kiss Napoli.
‘No-one can turn their nose up when he’s compared to [Michel] Platini. He’s a player in great demand, and if he continues to perform as he has been I think this will be his last season in pink.
‘Milan, Inter and Chelsea want him as soon as the winter transfer window, but no-one will move in January.’
Palermo are not keen on selling the 26 year old meaning Chelsea will have to wait until next summer before they can get the player.
First team opportunity might come difficult at West London as Vazquez will have to compete with Hazard, Oscar, Pedro, Willian and Fabregas for a place in the starting xi.
Vazquez joined Palermo in 2012 and was immediately loaned to Rayo vallecano for the 2012/2013 season.
He has scored 15 league goals in 77 appearances for Palermo.
