According to reports, Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo could leave Real Madrid for just £73 million.
Manchester United have been hoping to re-sign the Portuguese international with little success.
It will be recalled last month that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez stated that Ronaldo would not be sold because he still has 3 years left in his contract, but if he is to be sold the potential suitor must pay €100 million, smashing the world record fee currently held by fellow Madrista Gareth Bale.
Manchester City and Paris Saint German would have been alerted by the news and would definitely be entangled in a bidding war for the players’ signature. The French Giants Paris St German can match whatever offer that Manchester united could offer for the player’s service but the Red Devils have an edge because Ronaldo is a living legend and he’s adored by the Old Trafford faithful.
Ronaldo would have gone back straight to Manchester united when he is to leave Real Madrid if former United coach Sir Alex Ferguson was still in-charge of the side but that decision isn’t as straight forward with Louis Van Gaal at the helm of affairs.
The Portuguese will be 31 year old soon and will have limited years to play football at the top level, so to still command a huge sign on fee is an indication of his immense value on and off the field.
United should sign Ronaldo when he is available without minding the amount placed on him as he would bring a new direction and dimension to a team that is looking lost.
