Former Barcelona shot stopper Victor Valdes is attracting interest of many Premier league side since Manchester United told the Spanish goal keeper that his future lie away from the Theatre of Dreams.
The Dutch tactician alleged that Valdes refused to represent the Red Devils in the reserves which the Spaniard totally denied by posting images of him keeping for the reserves.
Van Gaal asked that Valdes be removed from the squad when squad numbers were issued, this however didn’t go down well with some of the players especially the Spanish internationals in the squad. Van Gaal went ahead to sign Argentine international Sergio Romero on a free transfer from Sampdoria.
Spanish side Valencia had indicated their interest to bring Valdes back to Spain but the goalkeeper ruled out a move back to Spain stating that he would rather remain in England. Liverpool and Newcastle United have so far indicated their interest to sign Valdes; the latter have lost their first choice goalkeeper Tim Krul for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury.
Southampton is the latest Premiership side to indicate their interest to sign the former Barcelona shot stopper after seeing their own first choice Fraser Foster suffer a knee injury in March while playing for the Saints against Burnley. Foster was initially expected to be out for 9 to 12 month.
The agent of Valdes; Gines Carvajal has stated that talks about a release for his client with United is on going as he seeks to explore his options in England and not elsewhere because Valdes is said to be well adapted to the English game.
