Barcelona boss Louis Enrique has finally opened up on star man Lionel Messi’s transfer rumours.
The former Roma and Celta Vigo coach stated that there have been enquiries for Messi from the English Premier league sides but he is not in the position to comment on it.
According to The Sun, it was revealed that an informal approach was made to Messi’s camp and one of the top sides in the premiership made contact twice last week for the players services and surprising enough the player seem interested in leaving Spain amidst his tax evasion scandal with the Spanish tax authorities. It doesn’t mean Messi is leaving for sure but these top sides are encouraged that Messi’s camp are listening to the interested club parties.
Messi’s current deal would end in 2018 and he has a massive £250M buyout clause and this would be the biggest obstacle for any willing buyer.
The Argentine has been one of the best players in the world and has stayed injury free throughout his career, but in recent times he has been suffering constant injuries. He is approaching his 30’s and will not put in the same kind of performance consistently.
With United looking for a player with pace and creativity, Messi has both including a high goal return and also a high commercial value.
And so when Louis Van Gaal stated that United can buy the best players in the January transfer window, was he referring to Messi?
Ed Woodward also said United have the cash to buy the best players in the world, the Lionel Messi tax evasion scandal has presented the United chief executive with the perfect opportunity to put his money where his mouth is and pull off what would probably be the biggest coup in the history of English football
