Reports revealed that Manchester United attempted to sign AC Milan goal keeping sensation Gianluggi Donnnarumma before he signed his professional contract with the San Siro giants. The sixteen (16) year old made his debut for AC Milan on Sunday against Sassuolo and did pretty well although he conceded one goal in his side 2-1 win.

The reason why United’s approach wasn’t successful is yet to known, maybe Donnarumma fancied his chances of regular football with AC Milan as Diego Lopez alone seem to be the only major threat between him and holding on to the NO1 spot in between the goal post. He finally made his official debut on Sunday and would be expecting to be their first choice in years to come.

Back at United, Donnarumma had lots of goal keepers waiting for their chance to impress the coach, world class goal keeper in David Degea,  Argentine international Sergio Romero and champions league winner Victor valdes as United’s goal keepers with the latter already told by the United boss that he doesn’t have a future with the team. The 16 yrs. old would have found chances limited to come by and made the choice to stay at Milan to further develop himself.

United may still go back for the Goal keeper in the January transfer window or in the summer as they would be left with only David Degea and Sergio Roberto. The future of the Spaniard still not certain as one cannot specifically say if Real Madrid would come with an improve offer or would stick with Navas
