Shakhtar Donetsk Boss Mircea Lucescu has revealed that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho told him that the London club may be after one of his best players.
The Portuguese was spotted in a recent match between Spain and Ukraine, Chelsea players Cesar Azpilicueta and Cesc Fabregas both started that game but it was believed that he was on a scouting mission for Andriy Yarmolenko and it was reported that the Portuguese was impressed by Real Madrid’s Isco.
Luscescu now claims the Portuguese has revealed his targets to him, stating:
“Mourinho is interested in Yevhen Konoplyanka,”
Lucescu is quoted in the Daily Star. “I was at Ukraine vs Spain with Mourinho and he is interested in some players.
“Perhaps it is Yarmolenko or Teixeira, if not, then it is Konoplyanka.”
Konoplyanka recently joined Spanish outfit Sevilla from Dnipro last summer on a four year deal and reportedly has a release clause of €40 million which was inserted into his contract by the La Liga outfit.
He was linked to Stoke and Liverpool before he moved to Spain. Teixeira plays for Shakhtar Donetsk and has made 142 appearances scoring 61 goals.
Yarmolenko recently renewed his contract with Dynamo Kiev but the winger is still keen on a switch to the EPL.
