Manchester United are watching Chelsea target Marko Grujic who plays for Red Star Belgrade and could move for the player in January.
Louis Van Gaal sent his club’s Belgrade based scouts to watch the 19 year old last weekend.
The 19-year-old started in his side’s victory against local rivals FK Rad Beograd and scored a wonderful 30-yard effort to open the scoring for his side.
Grujic was a star performer for Serbia’s u20 side that won the U20 World cup last summer, the 6ft3inches midfielder is being regarded as the next Nemanja Matic by football fans in Serbia.
According to the Daily Mail, the player is valued at £3m by his club and the old Trafford side who are making plans to find a successor to ageing Micheal Carrick and Bastian Schweinstiger will make a move for the 19 year old early in January as they are worried about Chelsea’s strong ties with Red Star Belgrade.
Chelsea scouts have been watching Grujic for a long time with the player high on the Blues list alongside Porto’s Ruben Neves as the Blues looks to bring in a young central midfielder.
According to TMW, Chelsea sent scouts to watch the midfielder last month with the aim of luring him to the Premier league in January or next summer.
Chelsea, who have been successful in recruiting players from Serbia in recent years will now have to battle it out with Manchester United for the Serbian U21 international.
Grujic was also subject of interest from Bundesliga side Hamburg, who had an offer rejected for the midfielder last summer, the 19 year old elected to sign a new deal keeping him at Belgrade until 2018.
