Manchester United have reportedly enter the race for Liverpool and Tottenham January target Saido Berahino.
22 years old Berahino had attracted the interest of Premier League giants Liverpool and Spurs who have had several bids rejected in the last transfer market and now Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign the Burundi born forward.
Liverpool already have enough fire power in the striking department in Christian Benteke and Daniel Sturridge and Saido Berahino won’t want to play a bit part role in the Liverpool line up as he is being courted by Liverpool as a mere replacement for the injured Danny Ings.
Manchester united on the other hand have Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and youngster James Wilson as their striking options with the latter rarely getting a playing time to prove his capabilities. Wilson is in the same rank as Berahino, with the difference being that Berahino plays week in and week out.
United should rather sign Saido Mane of Southampton, who will slut in easily into the United right flank and Martial on the left flank while Juan Mata plays behind the number 9 (Rooney) who will spare head the attack rather than signing Berahino who will appear surplus to requirement and will crack under the weight of pressure at Old Trafford.
Spurs would be the ideal team for Berahino as he would form a formidable partnership with Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli in the Spurs front line.
Berahino would excel better at Spurs as he would have more playing time, less pressure and good man management under Mauricio Pochettino.
It would be interesting to see Manchester United chief Edward Woodward and Spurs chief Dani Levy battle it out for the youngster’s signature
