Willian was undoubtedly one of Chelsea’s best players on the pitch in the weekend.
Despite his form last season, Willian is becoming very important for Jose Mourinho’s side; his hard work, pressing, skills and technique posed constant threat for Aston Villa. His pressing higher up the pitch gave the Blues the chance to take the lead.
Willian was the most in form Chelsea player before the international break, he took the form along to international duty and brought it back with him to London. Everything the Blues did right versus Villa, Willian was involved in a way or the other.
Rahman still has a lot to learn
The defender had an average afternoon on the day at Stamford Bridge as he made his first Premier League start. The defender although was superb going forward as he made nice runs down the channel and provided the Blues another option in attack; but his defensive play was very poor.
His poor positioning and poor tackling was a source of worry for the Blues faithful in the first half. Although he had a decent second half but it is obvious the Ghanaian defender hasn’t fully adjusted to life in the Premier league and needs to learn the way Chelsea defends.
Chelsea still struggling
Despite the Blues 2-0 victory this afternoon, they were not exciting and pleasing to watch. Individual performances was very poor. Jose Mourinho’s side still has a lot of work to do if they are to kick start their season fully.
Though a win today was the first step to getting their season back on track as getting three points today was the utmost priority; but players like Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, John Terry must improve individually.
Tim Sherwood’s side needs to get their act together.
Tim Sherwood, who is under pressure at Villa as his side are struggling, needs to put his acts together.
