As Chelsea face Aston Villa in the EPL on Saturday, we look at four players with a point to prove against the Villians.
1. John Terry
The Chelsea skipper is finding life on the pitch a little difficult this season. The 34-year-old played every minute for the Blues on their way to winning the Premier League last season and was subsequently rewarded with a new one year deal; but the former England international isn’t finding it easy this season.
He has been dropped in a couple of games but was reinstated into the starting xi against Southampton. The Blues captain needs to show that he still has what it takes to play at the top level and if he is to start against Aston Villa, he must perform as well as he did last season if he doesn’t want to return to the bench.
2. Ruben Loftus Cheek
The young midfielder is a player with so much potential and is expected to be the first player to move from the academy to the first team since John Terry over a decade ago. The young midfielder is expected to start against Aston Villa; although he has impressed in majority of the games he had played but came under scrutiny from the Blues boss who accused him of being lazy and playing like a superstar.
Its every young players dream to be a full first team member and Loftus Cheek has to grab this chance by impressing the manager so well, all the youngster needs to do is show his quality, work hard and keep things simple.
3. Eden Hazard
The Belgian international was the Blues best player last season and the League’s best player as his team went on to win the Premier League trophy. The Belgian international is skillful and has the ability to carry his team along and deliver when the team is doing badly just like he did scoring the winning goal against Manchester United at Stamford bridge last season.
So far this season, the Belgian hasn’t been able to do anything worthy of note, even stating that he is confused as to why he is performing this badly.
The 24 year old has already been dropped once this season. He wins set pieces for his team but the Belgian must do more than that if he wants to remain as one of Jose Mourinho’s untouchable or risk being left out of the starting xi occasionally.
4. Diego Costa
The Spanish international who scored 20 goals for the west London club last season has scored just 1 goal this season and has caused some section of the Blues’ fan to demand a new world class striker.
The Brazilian born striker returns from a 3game suspension after missing his sides Capital One Cup and League matches against Newcastle and Southampton. The striker who has come under so much criticism for his on field antics needs to get back to his last season form if he is to avoid the wrath of the media and Blues faithful.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
