Barcelona defender Dani Alves has said that Chelsea star Pedro should have stayed with the Spanish giants, stating that the winger was, and would still be happy with the Blaugrana’s.
The Spain international joined the Premier League champions for £21m after the Blues moved swiftly ahead of League rivals Manchester United.
It took Pedro just 20 minutes to score on his debut although has not lived up to the mounting expectation since moving to England but his former teammate Dani Alves feels the Spanish international made a mistake leaving the Catalan club.
Alves suggested that the work of agents forced a transfer through and that Pedro would still be wearing Barcelona’s jersey if not for external influence.
‘I told Pedro he should have stayed at the team but too many people got involved,’ Alves said.
‘Had he stayed he would have been happy here but we don’t make the decisions. If we did I would want him to stay for years.’
Dani Alves himself was linked with a transfer away from Barcelona but later signed a new contract at the club for another 2 years.
Pedro himself indicated last week that he was happy with his decision to join Chelsea and the Spaniard was quoted as saying;“When someone gets to play, they gain rhythm, confidence, you’re happier, you try out more things. Leaving Barca was tough for me but I’m happy with the change.”
Pedro has since had a mixed start to life in London and has hardly impressed for Chelsea despite scoring on his debut.Follow Football News Arena on Facebook and Twitter for the latest transfer news, injury news, team news and rumours from across the major Leagues in Europe and around the World.
