Chelsea midfielder Ramires is said to be closing in on a new deal with the club.
According to reports in Portugal, Chelsea chiefs began talks with the Brazilian midfielder during the summer and are now in advanced talks with the player.
Portuguese paper O Jogo reports that the midfielder’s current contract is set to expire next summer and the Blues are keen to reward the Brazilian international with a new deal.
And now, fresh reports claims Chelsea have offered the 28-year-old Brazilian a new four-year contract worth more than £3.7m a year.
The Brazilian who recently passed his 150caps for the club was delighted about his achievement and fired a shot at his critics:
Ramires said; “I’m proud to reach that figure, especially at a top club like Chelsea,”
“When I arrived here some people said I wouldn’t even play 50 games in a Chelsea shirt.
“In my mind though I said I can play more than that, and I can help the team for a long time.”
The Brazilian was strongly linked with a move away from Chelsea last summer, Italian champions and Spanish giants Real Madrid credited with an interest in the Brazilian.
Ramires joined the Blues from Benfica in 2010 and has gone on to score 35goals in 226 games.
Signing a midfielder still remains a must for Jose Mourinho but the Chelsea boss is keen to retain the services of the Brazilian who have completed 90minutes just once this season in the Capital One Cup against Wasall.
Ramires sparked his team’s comeback against Newcastle.
