Chelsea are reportedly readying an improved bid for Everton’s John Stones in the winter transfer window according to the daily mirror.
The Blues saw four bids rejected by Everton for the defender last summer but has refused to give up on signing the England defender.
The blues were frustrated in their effort to sign the young centre back last summer as Everton stood firm against selling Stones and rejected the Londoners final £38m bid for the centre back they signed from Barnsley in 2013.
Chelsea subsequently turned their attention to PSG’s Marquinho’s with a bid which was also rejected, as such were forced to sign Senegalese defender Papy Djilobodji and Jamaican’s Michael Hector.
Jose Mourinho’s side are not willing to accept defeat in their bid to sign a top class centre defender to replace club legend John Terry and will return for John Stones in the January transfer window.
It is reported that if Chelsea fails in their pursuit to sign the England international in January, the club will turn its attention to PSG’s centre defender Marquinhos who is seen as a more attainable option than Stones.
Deadline Day signing Papy Djilobodji will be moved out on loan in the winter transfer window to free up space for a new centre back if the club successful in convincing Everton to part with the 21year old in January.
Chelsea are hoping to get their season back on track after experiencing their worst start to an EPL season sitting 16th on the table with 8points from 8 games.
