Chelsea are reportedly targeting Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, the west Londoners are set to battle Barcelona for the Spanish international’s signature.
Koke a product of the famous Atletico Madrid youth set-up is a tough tackling midfielder with a superb range of passing, and he can play as either a centre midfielder or on the wings.
It is not the first time Chelsea has been linked to the Spanish midfielder as it was reported that Chelsea offered €65m for his services last summer which was swiftly rejected by his club and the player himself who vowed to stay at his boyhood club this season.
With the poor form of Cesc Fabregas and his vulnerability in protecting the back four when needed, Chelsea are looking to sign a tough tacking midfielder to partner Nemanja Matic.
The Blues also registered their interest in Paul Pogba after failing in their attempt to lure Koke last summer.
According to Spanish Publication AS, Chelsea are again prepared to offer well over Koke’s release clause in order to tempt Atletico Madrid into selling one of their key player.
The blues will do well with a creative midfielder in their team and the player will fit into Jose Mourinho’s squad as the Portuguese tactician is a lover of hard working footballers who give their all for the squad.
Barcelona, also in search of a centre midfielder to replace Xavi Hernandez is also monitoring Koke’s situation and are ready to table a huge bid for the Spanish international next summer.
Koke was part of the Madrid team that has won the La Liga, Europa League and Copa del Rey recently and has played over 150 games scoring 16 goals for the club.
