Chelsea have officially completed the transfer of Marco Amelia on a free transfer.
The 33-years old completed the switch and is expected to be around for Chelsea’s next league game against Aston Villa.
The Blues moved swiftly in signing Amelia after first team choice goalie Thibaut Courtois was ruled out of action due to Knee Injury and is not expected to return to action until December.
The former Italy international will wear the number 32 jersey for the Blue.
A club statement read:
“Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Marco Amelia.
“The goalkeeper arrives on a free transfer to provide highly experienced cover following the injury to Thibaut Courtois last month, and has signed a contract until the end of the season.
“The 33-year-old will wear the number 32 jersey, and will be available for our Premier League game against Aston Villa.”
